Happy Chocolate Day Contest

It’s a bit like a drug around my house. All through dinner their eyes have a certain glimmer like an addict looking for a fix. They might even unknowingly lick their lips. They glance furtively towards the pantry, rushing through dinner, no matter that it’s taken me all day to cook in my crock-pot.

“Can I be done,” they ask.

“Yes,” I say.

“Can I have dessert now?”

“I guess,” I say, sighing, wondering about this habit of dessert every night.

They clear their plates from the table, and rush to either the pantry or the freezer. And I’m not just talking about my girls, ages 9 an 5. It’s my husband too. It must be genetic, this love of chocolate.

After their chocolate fix.

Chocolate comes in small packages, or in bars, cakes, cookies, ice-cream, and during certain times of the year in the shape of a bunny. There are dark varieties and milk varieties. Sometimes it even comes with hot peppers imbedded in the layers of goodness. Or, my favorite, dark chocolate sprinkled with salt.  Around my house we do not discriminate; we welcome it all.

Chocolate. Universally loved. Known to have magic powers that provide comfort and some kind of endorphin that emulates the feeling of being in love. It might be the perfect food.

In honor of Happy Chocolate day, I’m holding the RIVERSONG GOURMET CHOCOLATE CONTEST.

Five lucky winners will receive a free ebook of my best selling book, RIVERSONG, a story of romance, humor, friendship, intrigue and gourmet food.

To enter, simply follow my blog (if you haven’t already!) and share why you love chocolate in the comments below!  Contest eligibility – applicants must be over 18 years of age.

Happy Chocolate Day!

I love chocolate because unlike a lot of people in my life chocolate has been there for me all my life, during the good, bad and ugly! It keep me warm on cold nights, it comforts me during sad times and is always there when it comes time to celebrate something fantastic!

I have one question – is there chocolate to b given with the book? Because that would b totally epic to sit and read your book while eating chocolate!

I love chocolate because it pairs with red wine as well as it does with a cold glass of milk. Much like people, it comes in all shapes, sizes and colors, and they are all beautiful! (but I don’t need to be included in the contest ;)

Why I love chocolate? There has to be a quantifiable reason?

Here’s my go at it, because it’s delicious and it has the ability to melt away stress and rejuvenate.

p.s. I’m not in the US but as far as Kindle gifting goes it’s the same thing :D (cheesy grin) And I’d love to read your book!

Chocolate is nature’s perfect food. What other food immediately fills you with “happy”? It can easily be said that a love of chocolate is what what separate humans from animals. It’s not language; it’s chocolate!

I have a beloved sign in my kitchen, old and from a garage sale, that says “There’s nothing like a good friend . . . except a good friend with chocolate!” Dark is my favorite, but not too dark. Dark with raspberry, dark with orange – those are all right. But give me dark with mint and I’m in heaven. Mid-morning snack, during the afternoon slump, after dinner, after dessert, whenever, even if I have to sneak it where the kids can’t see me! In fact, I think it’s time to go find some now, right?

I love how many pointed out the delights of dark chocolate and red wine. Merlot w/chocolate is THE best but malbec is also heavenly. Dark chocolate from Ghirardelli, Godiva or Dove can be better than sex!

I usually make chocolate chip cookies every year at Christmas. It makes a sweet, inexpensive treat for neighbors and coworkers. It’s my mom’s very old recipe and I submitted it for my former church’s cookbook.

What a great contest idea, Tess! Very smart indeed. I think I’ll steal the idea. LOL

Milk chocolate is my favorite! The only reason I can give you for me loving chocolate so much is, well, because it’s chocolate. There is almost nothing better in this world!
